Drake's Revenge Read online

When the Destroyer comes at him again Noryad grabs him with his exposed hand and gets a glimpse of Raphael and the men that killed his family. “Why did Raphael kill my family?”
“We were looking for the location of the hybrid boy from the prophecy and your family was seers, so we assumed they could give us that location. Since they couldn’t we killed them so they wouldn’t be able to snitch on the person letting us through the barrier.”
Noryad, now satisfied with his answers, decapitates the Destroyer and decides to stay there and rest a little before heading to see how Drake and Blaze are doing.
Chapter 4
Drake and Blaze leave Noryad to fight the three Destroyers that were left and follow the Lieutenant, who is just slowly walking so they won’t have any trouble following him. Once they are alone the Lieutenant takes something that looks like a tennis ball out of his pocket, throws it to the ground and crushes it with his foot. In just few seconds they are surrounded by four vampires.
Blaze looks at Drake with a smug expression, “I’ll take care of this.” He waves his hand nonchalantly at the vampires, “You deal with the Destroyer Lieutenant.”
“That’s the only thing I want to do. I want to take care of him, for myself and Noryad.” Drake responds, and keeps walking toward the Destroyer Lieutenant.
A vampire moves to attack Drake, but Blaze throws a ball of fire infused holy water and the vampire screams in agony before turning to ash. The other three look at him and hiss their disapproval.
Drake smiles and looks at Blaze, “Save me one so I can eat it with barbecue sauce later,” and he keeps walking.
Blaze laughs, “Don’t worry, I’ll be the one cooking them so just tell me how you’d like it and I will save one especially for you.
"Well done and you better not forget it or I’m beating your ass off.” Drake yells before he disappears from view.
Blaze notices a slight movement on the roof of one of the buildings and smiles to himself. He looks at the vampires with a wicked gleam in his eyes, “Shall we dance?”
The vampires regroup and come at Blaze from different directions. Upon seeing this he uses his fire magic in his feet to jump up and throw a ball of fire at each of them. Two of them evade, but the third just didn’t see it coming. The fire ball, laced with holy water, hits him square in the chest and he crumples into dust. Blaze thinks to himself, I better keep this trade going with that merchant. This holy water I’m getting for hand-to-hand combat training works a lot better than I expected it to. He stops for a second to figure out his next move and decides to form a ball of fire in each hand and run toward the vampires. The vampires seeing this, start running toward him, but from different directions so they can try to divide his attention between them. When they attack from both the right and left Blaze does a back flip and throws a ball of fire at each one. As soon as the fire/holy water balls hit them they turn to dust.
“Drake is going to kill me.” Blaze says before he starts laughing. The laughter dies when he looks up and sees Noryad coming toward him with a deadly look in his eyes that disappears when he notices Blaze watching him.
Blaze looks at him seriously, “Are you okay?”
Noryad nods, “I’m okay, just a little tired, but that’s something a good hot shower and a hot meal can change. Come on let’s go see how Drake is doing.”
Chapter 5
After leaving Blaze, Drake senses someone following him. Since he’s not getting any killing intent from whoever it is so he focuses on the Lieutenant.
The Lieutenant looks at him and says in a commanding voice, “The one I wanted to fight is you. That is why I called the vampires for your friend.”
“Well here I am so let’s do this because I really hate talking.” Drake smiles and takes out his guns.
The Lieutenant removes his demonic sword from its sheath and charges at Drake as Drake runs toward him shooting. As he gets close to Drake the Lieutenant attacks him and Drake rolls to the right and does a back flip to avoid the sword. He continues to shoot at the Lieutenant until he notices where he is. When he sees the Lieutenant on the wall he puts his guns in their holsters and takes out his own sword. He charges for the Lieutenant as the Lieutenant charges for him again.
When the swords make contact Drake tells the Lieutenant, “You’re strong, I give you that, but you’re not strong enough,” and tries to kick him, but he jumps back.
As he jumps back he brings his sword down and cuts Drake’s face and knee in one swipe. Drake touches the cut on his face and knows it is already healing, but he gets so angry at the Lieutenant for cutting him that his eyes turn a deadly black. The Lieutenant wisely chooses not to comment on this when he also sees how Drake’s hands have turned black with red lines, but that it does not go completely up his arms. Drake, with hatred and anger in his eyes, charges for the Lieutenant and cuts him on the face and arm. The Lieutenant, who usually heals fast with little pain, looks at his arm as pain blossoms from the cut Drake inflicted. His wounds aren’t healing and the pain seems to be increasing rather than decreasing where the cuts were made. That’s when he notices the sword is not a regular sword like the others he has been injured with, but that the sword is either angelic or is infused with holy water. He doesn’t see that as a problem for him because he can still fight and he charges to attack Drake. Drake evades it and counter attacks, but the Lieutenant jumps out of the way just before Drake’s sword makes contact. They keep doing this for a while; slash, jump, evade, like a choreographed dance, until Drake notices that Blaze and Noryad have arrived and are watching him. He strikes fast and cuts the Lieutenant on his arm, on the left leg and then on the face. The pain’s becoming too much for the Lieutenant to handle, but he tries to attack Drake one more time despite it. Drake, picking up on the Lieutenant’s slower movements, decides to go for the kill. They charge each other and Drake grabs the Lieutenant’s sword hand and brings him to his knees.
The Lieutenant eyes Drake in awe, “You’re the one!”
He kills the Lieutenant without asking him what he meant.
Noryad and Blaze look at Drake and see how tired he is. Noryad, concern in his voice, asks, “Is everything okay? What did he tell you before you killed him?”
Drake, noting the interest Noryad and Blaze have in his conversation with the Lieutenant, tells them, “Nothing of importance so don’t worry. Let’s get back to our bikes and head home. I need a hot shower and hot meal.”
Noryad and Blaze decide not to push the subject and keep walking, but Noryad already knows because he read the lips of the Lieutenant when he told Drake “You’re the one!”, what he doesn’t know is what the Lieutenant meant by that.
Noryad telepathically looks for Selene and when he finds her he tells her; we are heading home. It is late and you should head home to sleep too.
Selene, knowing this is her only chance, tells him, Thanks for not telling Drake and Blaze about me. I know they would have chosen to either attack me or capture me and I really appreciate it. Next time you won’t get inside my head so easily though.
Noryad tells her; don’t worry. I won’t try it again. Make sure you come to Never Too Late so you get a place to sleep and a hot meal. When you get there tell the person at the gates that you’re looking for Noryad King and he will let you in. After that thought he pulls out of her head and blocks her connection to his mind.
They finally make it back to their bikes, get on them and leave for the Guild.
Chapter 6
Meanwhile in the Guild, Vince is talking to Samantha, the leader of the Reapers Guild. He’s telling her about sending his three best men on a mission to look for, and kill, the Lieutenant and that they will soon be returning with news. Samantha, more than happy to listen, tries to reach for a paper he is handing to her and their fingers touch. The moment their fingers touch a shock of electricity runs through both their bodies. Samantha thinks she’s the only one who feels it, but realizes she’s wrong when she sees a look of desire pass quickly o
ver his face. It’s gone so fast she would have missed it had she not been looking directly into his eyes. The moment is completely lost when the door to his office bursts open.
Upon arriving at the Guild Drake, Noryad and Blaze head for Vince’s office so they can tell him they accomplished the mission. When they arrive at the office they open the door without knocking, before realizing Vince isn’t alone.
Vince notices the shocked expressions on their faces as they enter his office. “Well boys I want you to meet someone. This is Samantha Wolf, the leader of the Reapers Guild and a dear old friend of mine. She’s one of the original four who created the Guilds.”
Samantha gives them a look that makes them feel the need to kneel at her feet, but they stay standing and give her a defiant look, challenging her to say anything. Both Vince and Samantha notice the look of defiance and smile.
She smiles at Vince, “I like them. They look like they can take care of each other. Who are they?”
“They are my best men at the moment. The tall, black man with the dreads is Drake Blackfaith, the tall, clean cut black man is Noryad King, a war mage, and the shorter, white man in the middle is Rick Blaze, a fire mage. They are the men I was telling you about. The ones who went on the mission to find and eliminate the Lieutenant. How did it go men?”
Drake with a cold, hard look on his face tells Vince, “Pretty good except for the fact that someone let the asshole through the barrier. He didn’t kill anyone to do it!”
Noryad steps forward, “I fought the four Destroyers he brought with him and Blaze fought four vampires that he called to help him. Which leads me to believe the vampires within the city are helping the Destroyers.”
Blaze speaks up at this, “Yeah, wasn’t so bad fighting four vampires.”
The three of them went on to give a full report about what happened at the tunnels’ entrance, omitting the parts about Selene and what the Lieutenant said to Drake.
Samantha listens to what they report then asks them, “Did he say anything to any of you before he died?”
Drake responds, “Yeah, he said something that has been bothering me. He told me that I’m the one.”
Vince and Samantha look at each other, “Fuck!!” They both have a deadly expression on their face, which silences Drake, Noryad and Blaze. They excuse themselves and leave the office without speaking another word.

They get to the first floor just in time to see the main door burst open. The person who enters is so beautiful that Drake’s breath catches in his throat. She’s dressed in ninja black and is still the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She looks at him and he briefly sees desire in her eyes, but it disappears quickly.
As he’s wishing he can see more of it, he hears Noryad say, “Selene I’m glad you made it. Let me introduce you to the guys. This is Rick Blaze and Drake Blackfaith.”
She extends her hand toward Blaze and shakes his hand, “I’m Selene Hearts.”
When she does the same with Drake she feels a shock of electricity run through her body as soon as their hands touch. She starts to fall and Drake catches her, gathering her in his arms. She feels safe so she stays there for a couple of seconds before she pushes herself away from him and tells Noryad, “Lead the way.”
Noryad takes her to Vince’s office to introduce her and ask if it’s okay for her to stay for the night. When Vince okay’s it Noryad shows her to a room and tells her, “Everything you need is here, see you in the morning” then leaves. Drake, Noyrad, and Blaze head to their rooms so they can process what happened in the tunnels and rest for the next day.
Chapter 7
Drake is dreaming, but this dream is different from the one he always has. In this dream he’s watching how they’re torturing and burning each part of the woman and man he’s being seeing in his dreams for the last twenty years. There’s something familiar about them, but he can’t decipher what it is. He notices the man is looking at where’s he’s standing when he hears Gabriel talking to the man.
“Where is he!? Where did you leave the boy to grow up!? Where, Simon Black, WHERE?!”
Simon looks at Drake, “Well my son, it seems today will be my last day. Your mother will hate me for what I’m going to tell you, but make them pay for what they are doing to us, for the suffering we have being going through. Make them regret taking us away from you. Make Raphael regret taking Maria from me. Make Gabriel regret killing me. Show them that your hatred will know no limits. Show them that there will be no place in Heaven or Hell, that not even the Earth, will give them the space necessary to hide.”
In that moment Drake locks eyes with his father as Gabriel stabs Simon in the heart with an angelic dagger, killing him instantly.
The scene changes and he’s suddenly watching how his mother is taking a bloody beating in front of his eyes, and he can’t do anything to stop it.
He watches as Raphael yells at his mother, “Where did you leave him? With whom did you leave the boy? Where Maria Faith? Where did you leave the boy? WHERE?!”
Maria, with a smile on her face, looks to where Drake’s standing, “You have grown my son. I love you, but I have to ask you for something. Look for a way to end this war. It is meaningless. There is no reason for Heaven and Hell to fight. I’m sorry to leave such a burden on your young shoulders, but I cannot go where you’re going. I love you my son.”
At that moment Raphael grabs her head and twists it hard. Drake hears her neck snap just before Raphael drops her lifeless body to the floor.
Drake awakens with a start and he feels like a knife is being stabbed into his heart, over and over again, with no end in sight. He falls to his knees and lets out scream that sounds like a roar as his eyes turn completely black and he starts crying tears of blood.
******
Everyone in the Guild is awoken by the sound of the roar as it echoes loudly. Nobody knows what’s happening until they see Noryad running toward Drake’s room yelling, “Someone go and get Vince, Blaze and Selene, NOW!!”
While everyone scrambles to follow Noryad’s orders, he gets to Drake’s room and sees Drake on his knees on the floor. He’s looking at the ceiling, screaming and holding his heart while tears of blood run down his face. Noryad removes his glove and touches Drake on his shoulder so he can see what’s wrong with him.
The moment he touches Drake he sees what happened and kneels beside Drake on the floor as he starts crying himself. He keeps his hand on Drake’s shoulder as he says, “I’m so sorry bro, I know what you are going through,” but his words don’t penetrate the darkness that has taken over Drake’s mind.
Noryad hears Vince, Blaze and Selene approaching the room and he quickly moves away. When they arrive Vince asks, “What happened in here?”
Noryad lies and tells them, “I don’t know what’s wrong. I tried to get a reaction out of him, but nothing seems to be getting through.”
Vince accidently brushes Noryad’s bare arm and Noryad sees what Vince is and how old he is. His biggest shock is when he sees that Vince knew Drake’s parents, but did not tell any of them.
Noryad pulls himself out of Vince’s head when he notices Selene walking toward Drake with tears running down her face. He gently grabs hold of her arm and gets a glimpse of her future. He sees something that makes him nod his head and let go of her, “Go help him.”
When she reaches Drake she kneels in front of him and wraps her arms around him. When Drake senses its Selene he hugs her back and starts crying harder. The longer he holds her the slower his tears fall until he is no longer crying.
When he looks up he notices that everyone is looking at him and that he’s hugging Selene. He also notices how right she feels against his body and that concerns him. He immediately releases her.
He looks around at all the faces in his room before his gaze returns to Selene. He looks at her blood stained shirt with remorse and apologizes, “I’m sorry for ruining your shirt Selene. The show is over everyone, you can leave now.”

Everyone except Noryad, Vince, Blaze and Selene leaves and Drake knows they are not going to leave until he tells them what happened, why he was like he was when they arrived. He looks at everyone with a turbulent expression in his eyes and tells them, “I saw my parents killed tonight. It was like a vision that came to me while I was asleep, a dream but different.”
Lightning flashes through the sky as a storm begins to build outside the window. Noryad has a hard expression on his face as shock crosses the faces of the others. Selene looks at Drake and questions, “How can you know that?”
He explains to everyone how he’s been seeing his parents in his dreams for the last 20 years. What he chooses to keep to himself is that the only person who knows all of this is Noryad. Blaze knows about the dreams but only Noryad knows all the details because they have a strong bond and know what the other is feeling.
When Drake is finished Noryad starts walking toward him. When he reaches Drake’s side he looks at Vince, “I’m sorry for this Vince, but I think it is time for Drake to know the truth of what you really know.”
Vince looks up at him in confusion and lies, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Noryad gets a vision of the prophecy from Vince’s head, and his eyes turn completely white as he begins, “There is a prophecy that states: On the eve of his 25th year, Heaven and Hell cannot do anything except hide. His wrath and hate cannot be stopped. Both of his sides will unite, either to save or destroy what's left of Earth. Heed my warning, for it will come to pass. Nothing can stop it. It's just a matter of time…”
